Our first breakfast for 2015 is fast approaching and we encourage you to be involved in a great start to the year with a networking, informative session.

Our Website Master has been reviewing current financial membership through ASIS International. Currently we have 115 active memberships and each has been emailed with an update on accessing the Members Only area of the website.

For many years individuals have attempted to minimise the risk of crime or inappropriate behaviours utilising a number of security-related layers or zones of control. One common layer for introducing eyes on the street is CCTV.

As the year draws to a close and an even more exciting year is about to arrive, the Executive Committee of the ASIS Victoria Australia Chapter wishes its members and industry the very best for a safe and productive new year.

Our Chair, Dr Tony Zalewski wrote an important risk article that was recently published in Security Solutions. Entitled "Emerging Themes in Litigation: Working Smarter to Minimise Risk" Tony provides first hand advice on the importance of a strategic risk assessment as the foundation for security system development.

The Chair and Chapter Executive Committee would like to extend their very best wishes for the festive season and are looking forward to an even better 2015.

Recently executive committee member Pascal Engler was awarded the Dan Grove scholarship as an emerging security professional in the Asia-Pacific Region. The scholarship entitled Pascal to attend the recent Security Forum and Exhibition in Singapore.

Remember our recent member notification - our objective for 2015 is to encourage all current members to renew and for those members to assist recruit additional security professionals so we number 150+.

A higher than usual turnout occurred at our AGM, 2 December 2014 hosted by Complex Institute of Education. The Chair and Executive Committee were returned unopposed! Your Executive Committee members are listed on the website under About Us.

A 2014 research report from the Australian Institute of Police Management highlighted traits that impact upon effective police management. The lessons learned can be readily attributed to security leaders through 10 commonly identified problem areas.
