A psychosocial hazard is anything that increases the risk of work-related stress. Amendments to the OHS regulations are to be introduced through the Occupational Health and Safety Amendment (Psychological Health) Regulations.

Safe Work Australia advise that Thursday 28 April 2022 is World Day for Safety and Health at Work and Workers' Memorial Day. The day provides an Opportunity to reflect on how to prevent occupational deaths, injuries, diseases and illnesses. It is also a day to remember those who have died from a work-related injury or illness.

Our Chair, Dr Tony Zalewski is presenting at the Australian Institute of Health and Safety National Conference 25-26 May 2022. His presentation is entitled “Managing Occupational Violence: Lessons Learned from Litigation”. Member Joe Saunders is also presenting at the conference.

Based upon the NYPD SHIELD program, through its Counter Terrorism Command Victoria Police is the first police force in Australia to introduce a SHIELD initiative. The initiative is effectively a collaboration between Victoria Police and the Victorian private security sector sharing information in addition to education in protective security concepts and responsibilities.
