Bollards Destroy Vehicles At Parliament House

A multi-million dollar security project that included installation of bollards around Parliament House has resulted in extensive damage to five luxury cars used to convey federal politicians around Canberra.

Apparently recent works at Parliament House including a ring of steel fences interfered with the automatic operation of retractable bollards.  Each of the five vehicles has been written off.

No parliamentarians were aboard any of the vehicles during the incidents and there hasn't been no reports of injuries to drivers.

This is another example of integration problems when existing systems are subject to newly developed physical and technological solutions.
