Engaging With Your Workforce

Experts advise an engaged workforce is critical for any organisation and yet studies show around 73% of workers feel disengaged. Keeping staff motivated and valued is a challenge across organisations of all sizes. Below are some best practice tips to assist security managers and business leaders.

Andrew Woods asserts “The benefits of engaged employees leads to a motivated, productive and committed workforce.”  Andrew facilitates management development programs across 18 countries and identifies the problems of disengagement. He recommends the following first five steps:

  1. Build a culture around opening the lines of communication

Build the trust of employees. A lack of trust creates a critical disconnect

Align employee efforts to business priorities. Let them know they are working toward common goals.

Let employees know they are making a difference. Satisfaction and engagement are derived from work that is well-regarded.

Involve employees, especially on matters that affect them.
